How to use your time efficiently by planning ahead
Share
We all have responsibilities; work, family, pets etc, with all that in mind this is when our stacks of planners become useful. My ring planner is my main planner.
I have many sections within this planner but I want to discuss my weekly inserts. I use dated weekly inserts to write what needs to be done during that week: appointments, outings and important information.
I use the to-do section to list out all the things I must do to guarantee that week passes smoothly. I have limited time during the week for my projects therefore, planning ahead and planning efficiently is extremely important.
What does it mean to plan efficiently - in my opinion two things: you make a plan, you stick to it, excluding any anomalous situations. What helps me further is to map out exactly how I want an event divulge; for example, if I need to complete a project I plan exactly what tools I need, where I want to complete the project, who will be taking care of my kids during that time, does it require daylight or can it be done during the night… I believe most of the time we automatically carry out these actions for a smooth outcome. But personally, it helps the efficiency of my project if
I write out the answer to all the questions above.
My take away message to all the readers would be: is your planner an accessory or an asset? If it’s not helping you throughout the week or month, maybe you need a different way of planning? The same way we open up a recipe book to help us cook, we should open our planners to help us navigate our day, week and month.
